Interesting Thought...

Friday Night Funkin' music thought....Have you guys ever considered the fact that "Philly Nice" from the game Friday Night Funkin' is just a sped up, differently scaled version of "Gettin' Freaky"? I did some modifying and turns out the chords are similar. If you take the chords from the middle of "Philly Nice", slow them down, and transpose them to the C note scale (minor), you get the same beginning three chords from the game's intro, "Gettin' Freaky".

Here were my steps to comparison:

  1. Notate the three chords to "Philly Nice" in any music notation software (I use Garageband but anything is fine). (Chords I used were ACEF, F#AC#E and FACE in that order.)
  2. Slow down the tempo from 160 to 100 bpm (beats per minute).
  3. Change the chords so that instead of the previous ones they are now modified to the C scale (mine were changed to CD#GA#, ACEG, and G#CD#G).
  4. For best comparison, place the two chords side by side!

I found this really interesting, I'm not sure if it was on purpose or no. Makes you wonder how close Pico and BF were in the past. If some of their themes intertwined, then that would mean they knew each other from somewhere. Right? Anyways, that's my crazy tangent for now. Feel free to debate down in the comments!

(Would also be great to get some comments from the game developers and composers on this, too....makes you think.)
